Clinical Validation of Cerebral Blood Flow Simulation in Stroke Patients Without Macroangiopathy

With StroQ-Proof, the first clinical study on the application of dynamic, three-dimensional blood flow simulations in the brain was successfully conducted – in close collaboration with the University Medical Center Göttingen.

Background

Current diagnostic procedures rely on static snapshots. StroQ breaks with this paradigm: by combining AI-assisted vascular analysis with CFD-based simulation, clinically relevant flow dynamics can be simulated in real time for the first time – enabling the identification of hidden risk constellations.

Objective of the Study

Validation of the clinical applicability and model accuracy of patient-specific flow simulations, using duplex sonography blood flow velocities as a reference.

Target Group

53 consecutive patients with ischemic stroke (IS) or transient ischemic attack (TIA) without relevant macroangiopathy. All patients underwent CT angiography and duplex sonography within 48 hours of admission.

Results

• Simulation results showed a significant correlation with duplex sonography reference values.

• This provided the first scientific evidence of the clinical validity of StroQ simulations.

• The study demonstrates that patient-specific CFD simulations can be a valuable extension of stroke diagnostics.

Conclusion

With this publication, a decisive milestone has been reached: StroQ is no longer just an innovative research tool but a clinically validated technology with the potential to fundamentally transform stroke care.
