Clinical Application of StroQ in Patients with Complex Vascular Occlusions
Background:
This follow-up study applies the methodological approach of the initial StroQ-Proof study to a more complex patient cohort. The focus lies on patients with ischemic stroke (IS) or transient ischemic attack (TIA) and complex occlusions of the brain-supplying vessels in combination with advanced atherosclerotic vascular disease.
Based on standardized CTA data (slice thickness 0.75 mm), 3D vascular models were created. The flow velocities simulated by StroQ (systolic, diastolic, and mean flow velocity) in selected intracranial arteries were compared to values obtained via duplex ultrasound (nvUS). Statistical analysis was conducted using t-tests and Pearson correlations.
Objective of the Study:
To demonstrate the clinical applicability and validity of StroQ simulations in patients with complex cerebrovascular pathologies. Particular focus was placed on the agreement between simulated and measured flow velocities.
Target Group:
Consecutive patients with IS or TIA treated in a stroke unit, presenting with complex vascular occlusions and atherosclerotic vascular disease.
Study Status:
The study is currently ongoing in cooperation with the University Medical Center Göttingen.
